Biography

I was born in St. Georges-de-Beauce, QC. I have lived in Quebec, USA (CT & NH) & since 1979 in Edmonton, Alberta. I am bilingual in English & French. I was born an animal lover & have fond memories of my grandfather and his GSD 'Maggie'. I know they both had much to do with me being so passionate about dogs & eventually Boxers! I worked part-time in a Veterinary clinic at the age of 15 & went on to attain a 2yr diploma in Animal Health Technology & worked at an Emergency Veterinary clinic. I then completed Pre-Vet during my Bachelor of Science degree Specialization in Psychology. I was an Academic Advisor at MacEwan University in Science, Arts, Engineering and Phys Ed for 32 years.

I enjoy training & handling my dogs. With the support of my husband, I have enjoyed travel & success in Conformation, Obedience, Scent Detection, Rally, Chase Ability, Scent Hurdle Racing, Agility, Barn Hunt, Herding & Breeding. I have shared my life with many great Boxers.

I acquired my first Boxer & first Obedience dog in 1990, "OTCh Starview's Kafka, SHDCh. Together we achieved a Dual Championship (Obedience & Scent Hurdle racing) & #1 Boxer in Obedience in Canada in 1996. Then came CH Berlane's Wild Thing 'Stella', CD DOMC, the foundation of Summer Boxers. I did not breed often; a breeding was only considered when we were ready to add another Boxer to our household. Some highlights from my limited breeding program are attaining a Canadian DOM on Stella, dam of two homebred Am/Can CH, both Am/Can SOM: MBIS Am/Can CH Summer's Dash Riprock and BISS Am/Can CH Summer's Blackjack of Shadigee; and 4 more Champions from her two litters. Dash Riprock was the 2002 American Boxer Club Regional Winners Dog & Best Bred By Exhibitor. I also mostly owner handled Dash Riprock's son, 'Mr. Spock' - Am/Can CH Naja's Enterprise of Summer, CD AGN Am/Can SOM and his daughter 'GiGi' - Am/Can GCH JoCar's Glamour Girl of Summer, CD HIC and her son, sired by Dash Riprock, 'Maynard' - GCH Summer's Mantra, CDX RN CA SD-S-SP HIC VBX SOM. My last Boxer was Maynard's daughter Tilde~ " GCH Faberly's Key to Summer, CD SD-SP SD-A-SP2 SD-E RATI RATN VB.

I now have a very delightful Rat Terrier, 'Marvin'- GCHB Clarity's Kaboom of Summer, PCD RA RATI RATN SD-S-SP SD-A(3) SDIN CW-SD2 VN. Marvin has been the #1 Rat Terrier in Canada every year since 2022 and Canada's all time Top winning Rat Terrier Puppy. All of Marvin's wins have been owner handled by me.

I have previously judged Boxer Specialty Sweepstakes in Texas and in Oregon and an official Match at the American Boxer Club Specialty in Indianapolis
