As an American Kennel Club judge, Ms. Brown presently judges the Terrier, Toy, and Non-Sporting groups
and most Hound breeds as well as Pembroke and Cardigan Welsh Corgis. She has judged specialties in all
groups as well as many group specific events. She has judged her breed national in both the United States
and Canada. At recent AKC National shows in Orlando she has judged Toys, Terriers and the Non-Sporting
National Owner Handled Breeds and group. This December she will be judging the AKC All-Breed Stakes
for Puppies and Juniors for sixteen hound breeds. Presently she lives in Massachusetts with her English Toy
Spaniel and Boston Terrier.
Kathi came to judging following over 35 years as an owner, breeder, groomer and handler. Living in New
England, she has exhibited in both the US and Canada. Kathi bred, groomed and exhibited her Scottish
Terriers under the Blueberry Hill prefix. Her breeding program has yielded top Scottish Terriers. Her dogs
have won numerous specialties, groups, and Best in Show awards. Her homebred Blueberry Hill dogs have
been number one in both Breed and All-Breed multiple years.
She is presently the Judges’ Education Coordinator for the Scottish Terrier Club of America. She has served
in many capacities in canine organizations. She has been an AKC Delegate, All-Breed Show Chairman and
Past President of Ladies’ Dog Club as well as President of the Scottish Terrier Club of America. She is past AKC Gazette Columnist. Kathi continues to write and publish articles on the breed.
Ms. Brown is a retired education consultant working with states, districts and colleges providing professional development on learner and outcome-based instruction. She has been the Massachusetts Statewide
Coordinator for Science at the Department of Education, a Staff Developer for the Cambridge Public Schools,
Director of Mathematics and Science for the Hudson Public Schools and a faculty member at Lesley University. |
